👯♀️ Since I was 5 years old I’ve always liked drawing. I told my friend since I can’t be a Pilot, I will take fine arts in College, she laughed at me and said it will be hard for me to pass because I can only draw human stick figures.
💪 I took it as a challenge and practice drawing until I was able to draw characters from my favorite anime like Ghost Fighter, SlamDunk, and Dragonball.
👩🎓 When I graduated from high school, one elderly told my mom that she shouldn’t let me go to College because I wouldn’t make it, besides I won’t have a profitable career afterward.
🧐 Still, I took entrance exams and graduated with an advanced diploma in Information Technology major in Multimedia with the support of my family especially my mom.
✍️ Starting a career online was really tough way back in 2009, but I know this is the industry for me and I want to be a great designer.
🧝♂️ Although one of my first clients told me that I am not for the design role, I am not artistic enough, and that I should find a different career path, try marketing.
I followed his advice and took a different path and transition to do SEO instead because that was very in-demand at that time. I was doing fine, I like learning and exploring new things anyway. Yet, I wasn’t happy.
🙅♀️ After two years of pushing myself to a different career path, I resigned and told him that I will pursue what I really want as well as take care of my health. He supported me.
👍 Fast forward 10 years later, I now specialize web and graphic design, I may be far from being the best, but I know I am in the career path that I’ve always wanted to be.
🤟 I still do online marketing on the side. In fact, I combine design and marketing to generate sales and build connections to help e-commerce businesses.
👨👨👧👧So, to all the young ones out there, you may or may not know what you want to do with your life now.
👌 Don’t you worry, as one day you’ll figure it out, and once you do, never let anyone say that you can’t be who you want to be.
✔️ I’m not telling you to be disobedient, but to follow what your heart truly desires.
👊 You have the pen to write your story and the power to dictate your own storyline.
👩🍳 As I’ve always said to my nieces, “you can be whatever you want to be, as long as you put the right motivation in achieving your dreams.”
What matters most is how you see yourself and how you dream for yourself.
